6th of December - St Nicholas Day

As many of you probably know, the 6th of December is called St Nicholas Day and is celebrated by almost everyone in Germany. Over the years, certain traditions evolved, for instance children would put their cleaned boots at their front door on the 5th of December and would find them filled with nuts, an orange and an apple, maybe cookies and sweets, primarily chocolate. But this would only happen, if the children were nice kids throughout the whole year, naughty youngsters would be "punished" with a tree branch.
In some areas St Nicholas would even bring presents in addition to the treats in the boots or so called gift plates.
My parents never bought very expensive stuff for me for St Nicholas Day, yet I loved this day very much! But sadly it lost its magic over the years...

Nevertheless, I had a very nice day and wanted to wish you a happy St Nicholas Day!
